Pappas Pärlor explores the iconic 'We Can Do It!' poster in a minimalist 15 x 32-pixel frame within a 64RGB world, blown up into a 50 x 70 cm portrait. Originally created by J. Howard Miller in 1943 for Westinghouse Electric to boost female worker morale, the image gained prominence in the 1980s and has since been widely reproduced to promote feminism and other political issues. This reinterpretation offers a unique and powerful perspective on the iconic image, celebrating its role in popular culture and its impact on gender equality. Playful yet bold, this artwork is sure to inspire and define personal style in any interior.

About the artist

Johan Karlgren, Aka Pappas Pärlor, is a Swedish artist with long golden hair and a strong mustache. He creates interactive street-art using old school iron perler bead fun and describes himself as a full time artist, part time hoarder of awesome crap.

He started using this unusual medium when he became a father and equally shared parental duties, taking care of the little ones. This provided him with the opportunity to fully reconnect with his "child soul" in every aspect and develop his art.

Johan’s works are inspired by vintage lifestyles and pop culture, including video games, movies, cartoons, and music. The streets and urban environment become the canvas of a beautiful and constantly (re)imagined 2D retro game. Blurring the lines between the pixelated and organic worlds, experiencing one of Pappas' pieces in the wild is always an exciting moment. You almost always find yourself on your hands and knees, looking to capture that perfect shot.
